Core Aeration

Performing a core aeration is one of the most instrumental ways to maintain a healthy lawn. A core aeration pulls out cores from the ground and throws them throughout the lawn. In about ten days time these cores become new, fresh top soil for your lawn. As we live in a primarily clay soil area, it’s best to aerate once in the spring and again in the fall.

There are other benefits to core aeration, too. It will improve watering efficiency by opening up the soil for better water penetration. It remove thatch and other items that act as barriers to water and sunlight. Another benefit is that it oxygenates and softens the soil which promotes deeper root growth. Lastly, the aeration will help to unlock the nutrients that can become tide up within the soil.
